Weather and Conditions

This page will tell you something of the weather and conditions to expect when visiting Misiones.  If you’d like to review the birds you can expect at different times of the year, see our Birding Calendar.

Argentina’s Atlantic Forest is described as Southern subtropical humid forest without a dry season.  So expect rain at any time of year.

Temperatures, as can be seen from the first graph, range from a steamy 27 – 28°C in southern summer – (Nov – Feb) down to 15°C in winter (May – Aug).  That means that, in the winter months, and especially in higher areas like San Pedro, night-time temperatures can get down to freezing.

Preparing for rain is a consideration on any vacation – what should you bring?  If you plan to be in Misiones in southern summer, a light but effective rain poncho or jacket is probably enough, In winter a heavier jacket or extra polar layers or sweaters are definitely a good idea.  As for footwear, it’s always a plus to have waterproof shoes or boots, although some lodges (notably Surucuá) do provide umbrellas and wellie boots for use during your stay.
