Blue-winged Macaws are back!

2025 ends with some great local news!

(18 Dec 2025) The first Blue-winged Macaw chick has been born in Puente Verde Reserve near Andresito, Misiones, after decades of absence in the region. Thanks to a reintroduction program by Aves Argentina and Misiones’ Ministerio de Ecologia, this mid-sized macaw, once abundant in northeastern Argentina, may be on its way back to being a regular sight in the skies of northern Misiones.

Well done to all those concerned, and we look forward to offering this noble and iconic bird on future birding trips in northern Misiones.
